There is no finer example of Edwardian architecture in Manchester than one of its most famous landmarks, the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Originally built in 1903, the entire hotel is of considerable architectural significance and then, as now, the Crowne Plaza is considered to be one of the finest hotels in Europe. In 1904 it was the venue for the very first meeting between the Hon. Charles Stewart Rolls and Frederick Henry Royce which led to the legendary formation of Rolls Royce Limited.
