Did you know?
Terminals 1-3 are in the central area, and Terminal 4 at the south east of the airport complex. Terminal 1 serves the UK and Ireland as well as British Airways European flights (except Paris, Amsterdam and Athens). Terminal 2 offers mainly foreign based and European services and Terminal 3 caters mainly for intercontinental flights.
The airlines operating from Terminal 4 include British Airways intercontinental flights, Concorde among them, as well as Paris, Amsterdam and Athens flights. Others include Air Lanka, Air Malta and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.
For road access the central area is linked via twin tunnels from either the M4 motorway spur link or the A4, Bath Road. Terminal 4 is linked to the A30 and the M25 via the A312 and the airport's southern perimeter road.
There are three types of car parks, short stay, long stay and business parking. The short stay car park is intended for meeting and seeing off passengers and is adjacent to terminal buildings. Separate courtesy buses connect the long stay car park with the four terminal buildings and run at regular intervals between 5.30am and 11.30pm. During the night special telephones on terminal forecourts and at the car park bus stops can be used to call up a bus.
The business car parks are situated closer to the airport terminals than the long stay car parks, and are designed with busy business travellers in mind, and a range of executive services are also available.
Finally remember to give yourself plenty of time if you are driving to Heathrow. With the heavy traffic congestion of today it may be necessary to allow for this to enable you to meet your flight requirements.
