Croydon Hotels

Situated in Greater London, Croydon is England's tenth largest town with a population of over 331,000. It is also the sixth largest commercial office location in England, making it an important centre for business. Croydon enjoys excellent communication links with London and the national motorway network via the M23 and M25, both of which can be accessed directly from the town.

Its rail connections are especially comprehensive, offering direct trains to a range of London stations as well as lines to the Midlands, the North West and Scotland. It is estimated that East Croydon Station, one of the busiest in the country, serves 80,000 people per day. London's airports are also within easy reach, with Gatwick less than a 20 minute journey by train. In addition, Croydon serves as the principal terminus for an extensive network of bus routes.

The town is well known as a major shopping centre. The principal retail area is concentrated around High Street, Church Street, George Street and pedestrianised North End, which links the recently refurbished, three-floor Whitgift Centre to the modern Drummond Centre shopping mall. North End is also home to Allders, the largest department store outside central London. Most leading retailers are represented in the town, together with various specialist shops and boutiques. The Surrey Street market, which has been in existence for over 700 years, is open throughout the week selling fruit, vegetables and on Sundays, general goods. In addition, warehouse complexes in nearby Purley Way are home to businesses such as B&Q, IKEA, PC World and Sainsbury's Homebase.

The extensive entertainment options in the town include several cinemas, a range of nightclubs and, for those who enjoy eating out, an extremely wide selection of restaurants, pubs and cafes. Live music is also regularly performed at venues throughout Croydon.
