Crewe Hall
A former stately home to the Earl of Crewe, this magnificent Jacobean pile was originally built in 1615 by Lord Randolph Crewe, Lord Chancellor to Charles the II. Restored and extended in 1837, the interior suffered a fire in 1866 and was then restored by great cost by architect Edward Barry, who had been in charge of the final work on the Houses of Parliament. Barry added the west wing and tower as well as the wealth of mid-Victorian accommodation. Marble has replaced original stone work, while intricate carvings and stained glass windows are a stunning part of Crewe Hall.
The Grade 1 former stately home now offers 25 superb bedrooms and gracious entertaining and conference rooms. The hall is host to many gatherings throughout the year, but also offers a personal and friendly service to individual travellers. The hall sits in 25 acres of gardens and grounds and boasts its football pitch, tennis courts and bowling green.
