The hotel and its golf courses were once part of the estate of Hensol Castle, a stately home built originally in the mid 17th century. The views of the castle and lake from certain parts of the Lake golf course are among the best in the area. Every one of the Hotel's 143 guest rooms has been designed to maximise comfort and convenience, with most affording superb views over the golf course or surrounding countryside. Also available are a number of family rooms and rooms specially equipped for the disabled. Consideration has been given to today's business needs in all of the rooms, eleven of which are suites designed to provide executive accommodation and facilities.
Dining at the Vale is relaxed, informal and memorable. The Lake Brasserie is really quite innovative and umistakeably Mediterranean in style. You choose from a counter display of daily fresh fish and meat or the Chef's Specialities and watch it cooked mouthwateringly before you. A perfect meal is best enjoyed with a good wine and the cellar provides an extensive choice of old and new world wines to ensure that every preference is catered for. Private dining for up to twenty people is also available. If time is restricted, Hogan's Bar and its speciality open sandwich selection will fit the bill perfectly. As an alternative, you could also try the Restaurants in the Golf Club & Health & Racquets Club.
The leisure and sport facilities of the Health & Racquets Club are by far the best in Wales. They feature a large gymnasium with the very latest computer-aided fitness equipment, 20 metre pool, fitness studios, 3 squash and tennis courts, sauna, steamrooms and whirlpool bath.
