Grafton Manor Hotel, Bromsgrove
Bromsgrove Overview Bromsgrove "the gateway to rural Worcestershire", opens onto one of the loveliest counties in rural England, an area rich in history and tradition. With excellent road links to major motorways and with Birmingham Airport only 23 minutes away, Bromsgrove is an ideal base for the Heart of England's many attractions. Stately homes, working museums, unusual churches, Bromsgrove and the surrounding area has them all. Amongst the stately homes are Grafton Manor, a superb ancient manor house former home of the Earls of Shrewsbury which is now a thriving "restaurant with rooms". Close by is Hagley Hall, the last great Palladian mansion in England surrounded by its park whose temples, cascading pools and a ruined castle make it one of the finest, most picturesque in the country. Hanbury hall some five miles away was built in the style of Wren in 1701 and is substantially unaltered, and is now in the care of the National Trust. Surrounded by undulating farmland, rising in the north to the Clent and Lickey Hills there are many opportunities for walking and enjoying the countryside. The Clent Hills, Waseley Hills and Lickey Hills country parks all provide enjoyment for those who like the great outdoors.
