Ballachulish Hotel

Scottish tradition is alive in this fine Baronial hotel. Throughout the centuries this was amongst the best known Inns in the land. Chieftains, Clansmen, Adventurers - all men met at the "crossing of the waters" in this celebrated drovers Inn.

Over a hundred years ago the Hotel took its present fine form. Sample the past beneath turrets and steep gables that stand out from a background of mighty mountains. Or breathe in the history beside the huge sandstone blocks of the majestic building which proudly overlooks the swirling waters of the loch below. The recent past has seen continued refurbishment which ensures that a comfortable blend of traditional style with modern international standards awaits you. Today you discover a gracious Baronial Hotel - a Highland legend lives on.

Flowers greet your arrival in an explosion of colour beside the sweeping staircase. Precious views and picturesque corners. Welcoming firesides tempt for deep relaxation in the elegant Lounge or the cosy Old Library. Time itself seems to have wound back and the pressures of everyday life are no more. Take your vantage in the Cocktail Bar to enjoy a Sunset or venture to the famous "Ferry Bar" where guests and locals put the worlds to right.

Your bedroom at the Ballachulish Hotel is also special. The finest furniture combines with choice fabrics to create a warm and comfortable oasis for peaceful Highland nights or quiet days.

Watch the sunset from the famed Leaping Salmon Restaurant where delightful fare from Minch and Moor is laid before you. Salmon and Sachertorte, Lamb and Langoustine, Grouse and Gorgonzola; the best from the Highlands and around the world is carefully prepared and masterfully presented by adventurous chefs. A cosmopolitan wine list compliments the perfect evening; sample the vintages throughout your stay.

When you arrive at the Ballachulish, we have two car parks, one to the front and one to the side and rear of the hotel. We suggest that you leave your bags in the car until you know where your room is as there may be a more advantageous parking place. There are a small number of car parking spaces right at the front door on the opposite side of the road - we don't recommend parking here as crossing the road can be hazardous and passing cars have an unfortunate tendency of crashing into vehicles left here. Please ask if you would like any help with your luggage - we have porters available.

lachulish Hotel is a traditional Highland Hotel. As an 18th Century listed building, the hotel itself consists of a Turreted Baronial Style old wing alongside a stylish new wing. You will recognise our staff immediately as many wear the Lindsay Tartan. However, the Hotel has a friendly informality about it suited to those on holiday in the area. There is no dress code for the Restaurant where people enjoy dressing up or down!
